Has anyone ever seen a solid factory rear window without a slider on an extended cab 2nd gen pickup? I am trying to find a window to replace the rear slider on my 94. I dont ever use the slider anyway and I prefer the clear view I had on my previous truck. Thanks in advance.

Nah I dont think that will keep out the cold well enough in the northeast I want a real window...Thanks for the idea though, maybe I can get somebody to make me a piece of glass to fit the frame.

It turns out that silicon glass's thermal conductivity is about 1.38 W/m*K, where as plexiglass's is a mere 0.21 W/m*K. That basically means that plexiglass is 7 times better at insulating than glass.

I can understand if you don't want to use plexiglass for other reasons, but thermal insulation ain't one of them

Really....you learn something new every day. I would still feel better with glass though. All the plexi I have ever encountered scratches fairly easily, and I'm not sure how an electric defogger would work on it either...

Hmm, you won't be able to get a defogger on a custom cut window either, but the "easily scratched" part is definitely a legitimate concern. If you get glass cut, make sure it's prestressed or has a poly layer on/in it, otherwise you might get a glass shard through the neck or something in a crash. Automotive glass is pre-stressed to make sure when/if it breaks, it shatters into tiny pieces, not big shards like plate glass.

I've seen it on 1st gen 4runners. It looked ghettorific though, and not in a crunk-adding way...

I have a solid rear glass on mine. I removed the slider and ordered a new solid glass. The same gasket works on both.

I was curious about this myself, I was wondering if it was possible to get a solid rear window w/defrost replacement for my slider rear window. Not likely?

solid rear windows are out there.. try scavenging your local junkyards... dont think theres any with defoggers tho..
