Axle mount bushings?
I'm a proud new owner of a 87 'runner! I was stoked the day I drove it home. not so much now 3 weeks later i start ripping into stuff for maintainance and start finding problems. Thing i've done so far:
Valve clearances were WAAAAYYYY tight like all were around .005-6 warm. now that ive adjusted them .008 and .012 they are clacking like no tomarrow.
Trans started making noise in 1-2-3-5 gears old worn out gears noise but then underneath it you can catch this ringing noise like loose washers on a vibrating bolt. You can only hear this ringing if you are putting the motor under stress.
And lastly, My IFS ratlle and jitters. I've narrowed it down to BJ's Bearings and worst of all the one part i cant find anywhere....The IFS mount bushings..
So the breakdown is I got ripped on my runner but oh well. Over that now. everything thats broken was probably gonna get replaced anyway.
My biggest concern right now however is keeping my front end from falling off on the freeway. I can't seem to find these bushingsat any of my local parts houses and have yet to try the local toy dealer as they are well known locally as being very poor.
Does anyone know where to locate these bushings?
Plans for this rig are an Elocker with 4:88's, 31's, downey holding it all up. Running 4:88's for two reasons. I tow alot 2klbs. and i want the option of going to 33x1050 later on.

CONGRATS! I hear you on finding things the PO did wrong once you start tracking down minor issues.
Oh and I don't know where to get the bushings. I just wanted to tell you conratulations.

Thanks Junk.
No not the control arm bushings. There are three mount points for the IFS center.
1 Is directly in front of the diff.
1 is behind the front axle about under the drivers clutch pedal
1 is behind the pass side of the front axle a tad more towards the trans tunnel under the passengers left foot
