Auto t-case shifter linkage ?

Does anyone have a solution to the linkage separating and not shifting? The ball and socket keeps separating, and then it doesn't pivot and shift into 4 or 4lo. I have replaced it with a working unit (thinking I had broken it) and it is still doing it. Does anyone have a solution? I am looking to get a budbuilt t-case skid, but then I won't be able to access the shifter by hand (cause I can still manually shift it from underneath)...'

I hope I gave enough information, please let me know if you need me to clarify...

We fought that on Molly's - replaced the bushing and the hole horsecollar thing - no improvement

Engine broke first - didn't really matter after that
