Yep, the aussie has a reputation of being smother then the lockrite. The lack of pins that can break is cool.. their warrenty is also pretty kickbut.
The lockrite has been around for friggen ever. Easy to install in a v6 application. I run one, have had it for almost a year now. I love it, would never go back to open! 2wd is now better then pre-locker 4wd

Aussie is supposed to to come out with a V6 diff locker pretty soon. But they've been saying that for years. Might email them to find out if they've got them yet. I called back in Aug, and they said 60 days, but it wasn't the case.

Yeah, sorry. I ment to say they were stronger. Guess I worded it bad
I would really like to see how your truck handles with the 31's Matt. Im wondering if the lockers flaws are magnified by the big mud tires im running...
p.s Aussie said they would have a V6 locker out in a few months... but they have been saying that for YEARS!

I'm hoping to get an aussie sometime. But I'm still a bit unsure of how they handle on the street. I've done a lot of reading, and people's descriptions of them are so varied. Some people say they are very tolerable, while others hate them and remove them quickly. I guess I just need to ride along with someone who has one.
Anyone with any thoughts on the Powertrax No Slip? I'm not really considering it, mostly due to price. But I'm still curious to hear if it really does run as smooth as they advertise.

I have no personal experience with them, but have also heard the positive reviews. The reason I discarded the idea was cost. At $500-600 you are getting well into the ARB range (not exactly, but putting a pretty good dent in it). I figured the Aussie/Lockright option at approx $250 was certainly worth a shot. If you hate it you could still likely pull it and sell it for $150 and not be out that much. For me it was the difference between being locked and not locked. In fact I like mine well enough to keep it in my truck when I lift and go to 35's. I don't know if I will experience troubles with the larger tires, but figure I have little to lose.

No arguement here. ARB is definately the way to go. (budget allowing) I just can't argue against the performance of Aussie/Lockright, especially given their price point. I have an ARB in the SA that will go under my truck and I admit I will probably end up with one in the rear eventually. For now though, that is $800 I don't have to spend.

I wouldn't call myself a hardcore off roader. My truck takes me to an from various fishing spots, and exploring back roads, yes, I spend plenty of time in 4wd, but its also my daily driver. I've taken lots of passengers along with me commuting to school, work, and general driving around. No one ever has ever commented "why does the truck handle all weird?". I feel 100% safe driving around with it, even though I have been in some serious car accidents (got hit by a dumptruck on the highway, rolled my truck) PRIOR to getting the locker. I respect dangerous situations and give them a wide berth.
Do I have any hesitations driving my little sister, my girlfriend, or my grandmother around? No. Does a locker require more attention to driver? Yes, a little, in the same way driving standard requires more attention than driving an automatic.
