Anyone replaced tailgate window *inner* weatherstrip?

I have a replacement outer weatherstrip (68160-89111, AKA 68160A) which comes (nicely) with all the clips. Trouble is, I'd also like to replace the inner weatherstrip, which is very similar, but slightly different (has an extra lower felt seal and curl to it). Have others just used the outer seal in the inner position since it's more available? I have a part on order (68170-89114) for the inner, but am skeptical it'll arrive since it's a discontinued part.

The trick for removing the outer weatherstripping without removing the glass is to use a thin putty knife, BTW. Come from each side, and release the two side hooks of each of the eight retention clips, and then pivot the weather strip forward/backward to get the center tang to release.

thx for the tip on removal... i wonder if the inner rubber on the doors would work, even if it required two pieces.
