Another Noob Question - Center Caps

I have a 1990 extra cab 4X4. It had some pitted chrome wheels on it when I picked up. I always like the factory 8 spoke wheels, and found a nice set recently. I am taking them in tomorrow to a tire place to have my tires swapped, but I wanted to mess around with some new center caps I picked up. These are for the for the front...they look like they should fit, but I can't figure out exactly how. What are the clips on the edge supposed to attach to? I thought maybe these pushed through from the back, but it looks like the just pop on the front and clip in somewhere. I realize this is probably a dumb question, but I have never had rims with center caps before.

The caps are currently have are just push through with no clips. The problem with these is they seem too tight to push through these rims. Wrong size? Wrong type? I figured I could ask the tire place tomorrow, but sometimes you don't get the best answers from them....help and advice greatly appreciated!

I don't believe a push through cap will work on those wheels, but shouldn't say for sure cause I never tried it. The cap with the little tabs look similar to the ones on my chrome stock rims, probably same as yours. The tabs just lock on to the edge of the hole so that doesn't work on the alloys either.

The steel caps do not work on the alloy rims. The alloy's use a plastic cap instead.

For manual hubs you use these, for auto you use 4 of the full closed style.

Great info guys...thanks. At least I know not to mess with it. Kind of kicking myself for not asking the question before buying the steel logo caps but oh well. I can always put them back on EBay I guess.
Thanks again for the great info...

Is there a model number on those? Someone stole the ones off my driver's side and I love the way they look on the wheels

They are easy to find on Ebay. I picked up an entire set pretty cheap and painted them.
