Another clutch question

I have a 1995 4X4 pickup and have a clutch question.
My pick up has 170000 miles on it and it has the original clutch.
The clutch seems to go in fine, but now when I shift while moving I can feel just a little "bump" and then it goes into gear fine. The bump is the gears just before they come together (I hope I am making sense )

I know every little noise and bump in my truck as I drive it everyday and have for 2 years and to be honest I don't remember if this shifting bump was there before. I don't think it was. So does this mean my clutch is going?

Thanks

Do you feel the "bump" in the shifter or in the movement of the truck?

Either way, I doubt it is your clutch causing the feeling.

I feel the bump in the shifter like the gears are just bumping before they mesh.

Since the feeling is different, you may want to check the level of your transmission oil. If it has been a long time, you may even want to change it.

Technically, it is the synchronizers that mesh, rather than the gears themselves. Could be that they are just getting a little worn. Does the "bump" happen in all gears, or just a couple?

had the oil ever been changed? might just be the oil has broken down so the gears dont want to mesh. changing the oil works wonders most of the time and overall make the transmission feel better when shifting

Probably wouldn't hurt to change the shifter bushing. You can get it at the dealer or Marlin Crawler for a reasonable price and an easy fix.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

I bought some Redline MT 90 and will change the transmission fluid and and t-case see if that helps. I also bought GL5 75W90 from Redline and will do the diffs while I'm at it.
