Another 3.4 swap

I have a 91 4runner with a 5spd 3.0. Iv got a 3.4 out of a 2000 4runner with the harness. I also grabbed the donor plugs and ecu, but they are for automatic trans. Would i be able to order these from a 97 4runner to complete the swap or would i need the engine harness too? Or will i need a 97 motor with it all? Trying not to have any cel.

Do yourself a favor read through the 3.4 swap section.

Do I have this correct you have the Engine with ECM Sensors and Harness out of a 2000 4Runner Automatic

Not sure what your calling the donor plugs The engine Harness will have 3 of the 4 plugs attached the 4th plug will come from the cab harness of the donor vehicle

To make this easier you should have the Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagrams for both your 91 4Runner and the 2000 4Runner

I am not sure why your wanting to bring a 3rd year (97) into the equation

Most times one has a few things to work through till all the codes get cleared and all the tests run

Its all from a 2000 auto 4runner. The donor pugs are from under the dash of the 2000 to wire it into the older harness. Was trying to see if i could get the dash harness and ecu from a 97 manual with the ecu n make it easier on me.

If you want to go that route it is the Engine harness and ECM and all the sensors for that year engine.

Then you have a 1997 engine on paper it is the ECM and sensors that identify the year of the engine.

The engine engine harness and ecu are out of the same 2000 4runner. Im just wantint to know if the engine harness itself is different from a 97. If not i can order a 97 ecu n dash harness from a manual 4runner n have less issues.

I think you are misunderstanding what is being said. You do not need a DASH harness at all, you need a engine harness and ECM, then you use the dash plugs aquired from the donar to make a conversion harness. So, having that said, have 2 options.

1. SEARCH the 3.4 swap section and you will find a how to on how to convert an auto engine harness to a manual harness, and buy a manual 2000 ECM (99? and newer auto and manual use same ECM plugs).

2. Find a new 3.4 manual engine harness and ECM, remove the harness from your 3.4 and install the new manual harness.

After you decide which direction to go, go to TIS https://www.techinfo.toyota.com/ and get a 2 day subscription ($15). Download the EWD (electrical wiring diagram) for the donor and the recipient vehicle. Be sure to grab the year you have, the year prior, and the year after just in case. You would be surprised how many vehicles are build with older or newer harnesses. My 89 uses a 90 harness according the the EWD.

Then build a conversion spreadsheet, and finally a harness. Here is mine for an example. Good Luck!

Plugs from donor 90 pickup engine harness and 99 4Runner ECM and Body harness.
Ta Da!

Oh and FYI, 90 pickups and 4runners will be very close when it comes to wiring, and 98-2000 4Runners should be the same (Manual that is) so your harness could look very close to my spreadsheet, but get the EWDs and confirm. Search the 3.4 swap section, that's how I sorted all this out. Seemed scary at first, but now that I have done it there is no way I would ever buy a harness!
