I use Royal Purple because it makes me feel good and I can push oil change intervals to twice a year. So it ends up costing me no different than regular dino.

The guys that use synthetic swear by it, the guys who don't use it laugh at the ones who do. If you are consistent with following your maintenance intervals and drive under normal conditions it probably doesn't matter what you use.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but it's basically the truth. You should do the search and read the threads ad-nauseum until you are convinced what product to spend your money on.

I'm using Amsoil 15W50 right now, but I haven't noticed too much difference between that and the Mobile 10W30 synthetic I had before. Oil pressure is a little higher at idle. I think I will switch back to a Mobile synthetic next time. I like to change the oil more than once every two years or what ever Amsoil says is ok..

you do realize that your 'higher' oil pressure is caused by the fact you are using a 15w vs. a 10w: 15w is thicker when than 10w when cold, thus more pressure required to pump it around; and a 50 as opposed to the 30, also requires more pressure to pump when warm?

For sure. I doubt a 15w50 Amsoil is measurably different from a 15w50 Mobile when it comes to oil pressure. I guess it wasn't clear.

What I'm saying is for twice the cost of Mobile, I don't think its worth it. Each oil change would cost about about a quarter of the price of a new engine with Amsoil. While, I'd rather have the engine last than buy a new engine every couple years, I really doubt Amsoil is much (if any) better than Mobile.

There is so much hype about Amsoil- the old website would have had you believe running Amsoil is a quasi-religious experience.

yeah, got my change- change your place of residence since the Dem's want to give a lot of money to corporate / big business. (thought the republicans were the ones to do that?) never seen the Republicans give out over a billion dollars, much less a trillion, to any particular industry....

Considering my pockets are empty, I know the change is coming from my pockets.
Hopefully, I can fill my pockets with 90w140 gear oil and slow down the 'change'.
(sorry, had to get it back on topic).

Amsoil isnt twice the costof mobile 1 it is high if you pay retail and change it every 7 or 8k .Thats why i help folks on here get it at dealer cost when they are interested and ry to explain the extended intervals. You wont know if one oil is better than the other without UOAs Thats the only way to tel what oil is working for you. Here is a yearly price breakdown over a year. It is compared to dino oil , but will give you an idea and these are Amsoil retail prices :
