Am I NUTS?
As you can see from my signature I have a lot of time and money invested in a twenty year old pickup as of right now about 10K that’s a lot of bucks. That includes rebuilt heads, new gears, six new tires and lots of little things that I’m not going to bore you by listing. Now I’m thinking if I should go “all the way” and do the Headers, Super Clutch, Brake lines, new Paint and interior? I will be up to like 14 or 15K !
But!….and this is one big BUT! She will be one very cool old truck. That of course that’s my humble opinion. So I ask the other Toyota wack jobs out there, like me. “Am I NUTS?”

Hell no. I have about $7000 in my 86 4Runner. If I had $7000 to go buy a truck I wouldn't have picked mine, but over time it DOES make sense. If you buy a truck for $2500 and drive it for a year, that's less than a car payment and you own it. Then if the motor goes, $3500 for a new motor makes sense, since you'll have a truck with a new motor. When the brake calipers freeze up and the clutch goes out, it's still way cheaper to fix it than buy a $7000 truck. In the end you'll probably have a truck that's more sound and reliable than the $7000 truck.

dang i wish i had that much money to put into my truck! Don't worry, i have a long list as well, although mine is just a wish list right now. Over the next few years with summer and Christmas break jobs (college athlete) hopefully my dream will start to become more of a reality. I think BigT put it best, "Drive what you love, and love what you drive!"

Hell no, your not nuts, these truck are still going strong after 20 years, how many people can say that about other vehicles that they have owned ?. Spend the money to fix your truck up, it will be worth it.
