alternator bolt size?

alternator bolt size?
given i know its probaly metric but im running a new wire for the alternator and was wandering what ring terminal would fit the best? im guessing either a 5/16 or a 1/4 ? any ideas anyone that has maybe had to do this before
8MM which is very close to 5/16"
