alittle help and or insight plese
Ok so I am having a couple problems with my 88 4runner not major but a big PITA
First off is the breaks, they are great except every one in a while I will go to step on them and have no pressure behind the peddle if I pump it again its back to normal. This is only happens once or twice in my 45 minute commute, keep in mind I drive threw Boston stop and go traffic so I am using them a lot. There is no air in the system and all my pads are new could it be the master cylinder?
Second is I go threw starters like they are going out of style almost every 3 mounts or so I have to start hitting them with a hammer I have gotten them from Napa, auto zone and from Toyota (they last the longest) so WTF is going on with these starters I am getting kind of desperate with this one issue here

on the brake issue, did you bleed the load proportioning valve?
as far as the starter, what kind of failure are you having?
what is it doing? clicking, free spinning, etc?
have you checked the fly wheel? and the terminal studs on the solenoid?

as for the starters they just click and have a very slight wine after the click when i did my clutch last year i checked the fly wheel and it looked fine the last time i did a starter i checked the fly wheel to see if it had and worn teeth in that area but the teeth in that particular area looked fine
if i get out and slam the starter with a hammer she will fire some times it takes up to 3 times tho
i have not checked the terminal studs where is that solenoid located?

Assuming you don't have any leaks (check your fluid level) you need to bleed your brakes again... Using a $35 vac pump to suck the fluid out typically does a better job than doing it manually IMHO.
