I've got a 92 4x4 single cab 22re that I'm mounting a plow to. On my last plow truck (Jeep TJ) I used air bags inside the front springs that I could inflate and help carry the plow, but not effect regular driving. Does anyone know of replacement front air shocks, that I could add pressure to when the plow is mounted and lower when it is off? I know timbrens are an option too, but $200+ for bump stops seems extreme.

On that year of truck, there is a torsion bar spring, not a coil spring like on the heaps. There would be no way to use a bag of any type.

Best bet would be to get a bigger torsion bar from OME, Sway-A-Way, etc.

This will allow you run that plow...

I know there are torsion bars and not springs I just wanted to know if there is an air shock I can replace the front shocks with to add more suspension when I need it. I don't want to add larger torsion bars and create a stiffer ride when plow is off.

It's one of those cases where you cannot just buy an air shock for that truck, but instead, walk into an autoparts store and ask to see every different air shock they have (usually only a few diff ones) and compare it to the mounts and general dimensions of the factory shock. Find something that could be easily installed with minimal fabrication or modification.
The closest thing I remember doing something similar was back in the 80's when people were using air shocks on their minis to raise and lower them, and even though they were 2wd, there were companies that sold them as kits with misc brackets and such to get them to work.
Sounds like a good idea to me.

Thanks for the advice. I was being lazy and hoped someone else already did the leg work. I'll have to find the specs for the stock shocks and hit up the parts stores or look online for something that will work.
