Aftermarket FI timer switch?

My Fuel Inj. timer switch is not working properly, '88 3VZE manuel. It seems that this is a dealer item only and they want $188. Now the weather has gotten colder, I notice a huge drop in MPG. My engine is hard to start and stays on fast idle for too long at 1700 RMP's. Even after the engine is completely warmed up it will fast idle for another 5-10 minutes. Would finding a used one be a good option, does anyone make an aftermarket or just suck it up and drive the way it is?

If I bought the DIO at 188 how long would it take to return the investment in fuel savings? Maybe I should consider wear and tear on the engine too?
