adding a resonator to 22r exhaust

I just replaced the flowtech raptor muffler I threw on it when i got because I all ready had it and I blew out the one that was on the truck the 1st time i drove it.lol so I replaced it with a oem type round muffler and factory size tailpipe and as i figured my exhaust is still loud.but is a high pitch tin can type sound instead of a loud roar the flowtech gave me.I have no cat it was gone when i bought it.So im thinking maybe a resonator in factoy cat location will filter out the high pitch it has to it.what do you all think?oh and replacing the cat is out of the question no emissions testing here.

I'm curious. I know some exhaust doodads make 'em sound rice. It is a Japanese 4cyl, so...only one way to know, right? I know my brother stuck a fart can on the end of a straight piped Plymouth 225, sounded pretty good. Big engine difference there, tho.

Yeah one at autozone is 18 bucks but the last time I was at pullapart I saw a new one on a car that still had the sticker on it and it would only cost me 5 bucks. I can adapt it anyway I have to for it to fit and weld it on.

Update: I got a 18" resonator that looked brand new off a 91 Nissan sentra at pullapart for 5 bucks yesterday.of course I had to adapt it down from 2" to 1 3/4 so I welded it in today were the cat would be and you wouldn't believe the difference.no more high pitch sounds just a very mild low rumble it was well worth the time to do. And I sure can't beat the price for a new exhaust system I paid 10 for new factory muffler at pullapart ,5 for resonator at pullapart,18 for tailpipe at orilley auto, 6 for adapters and welded it all up my self which is a huge savings. so for 39 bucks I now have a new quiet exhaust system that I couldn't be happier with.
