86 4Runner DLX

I took the blower motor out today to clean it and while it was out I was going to replace my expansion valve (I have evacuated the system). I took out all the 10mm bolts and retaining screws I could find and that dang cover will simply not come off. I can get about a 2inch gap but there is something that doesn't want to let go. I have searched for answers to this question but can't find one? Is there a secret to getting that cursed cover off so I can access that valve?? I see the valve and the Evap but simply don't want to break the casing to get to it.
