AAL...need help and qiuck...
i just got my Rancho AAL in today and i need help...the tech write up in this froum says to instaul them bteween the bottom(helper leaf) and the 2nd one...the insrtuctions that came with the AAL say NOT to instual them there but rather between the top and 3rd leaf...SO WHERE DO I PUT THEM???
dose it really matter...and just in case you need to know the aal are about 21 inches long...plz help i want to instaul them before the weather gets cold around here agian...i.e. this weekend...thnxs

I just put mine where the length looks best. I think betwen the 2nd and third. If you put them above the lowest one it might not touch on the ends (depends on how bad the leafs are sagged).

I would put it as close to the bottom of the pack as possible, but sequentially with the other leaves. Meaning, put it on the bottom if it is shorter than the others, put it between the 1st and 2nd if it is longer than the 1st, but shorter than the 2nd, etc, etc. See what I mean?

i tryed to put them in today and spent 2 hrs...WASTING MY TIME
...for the life of me i could not lossen not one of the 8 nuts on the U-Bolts...my air compressor is not working at the moment neither.
...what makes me even more angry is that the threads on the u-blots and the nuts are in prefect condtion
...beside a little surface rust you can srcacth off with a scerwdriver...omg i so mad....now'll i have to wait another month or so to instaul them at my dad's with his tools and compressor
...wtf

i already soaked them...the nuts size is 3/4 or 19mm,both work...just they would not trun...so me and my dad will use his air compressor to do it...he has the tools...just i got to wait for warmer weather...i.e. next month...

Pretty much any place that sells AAL's should also carry u-bolts. Where'd you get your AAL?
You could also buy a u-bolt flip kit from someplace like www.trail-gear.com or www.marlincrawler.com. That way you get a slight increase in ground clearance (no bolt ends and shock mounts hanging below the axle), but you would also have to get new shock mounts.

I asked at a NAPA one time and the guy told me I needed to give him the dimensions of the u-bolts; he couldn't look them up by vehicle make and model. Not really a big deal, but I didn't have one with me at the time (I was driving my old Jeep
) to get the dimensions from.
I've gotten two sets custom made at a local heavy truck spring shop. They do springs for dump trucks, etc. I took a stock one with me, and told them that I needed 4 just like it, only 1" longer. It took about 10 minutes to have them made, and it cost about $25.

I just took out my U-bolts today with a 19mm socket, a breaker bar and a 4 foot long steel pipe. I sprayed PB Blaster on the nuts and left them for about 5 minutes. After loosening the nuts, I just used my impact wrench and they all came out easily. Try using a cheater bar. The longer the better.

Look at Farm or Ranch supply stores
I got my U-bolts from Big-R which is a home and ranch store. I'd look at any place that sells farming stuff, tools, outdoor gear, and feed. Like Tractor Supply or other ranch stores. They carry everything needed to build a trailer so they will have the U bolts.

just went to autozone today for u-bolts...they can oder the ones i need but they are 10inches long...which is good for me because now i can cut off the old ones and put the 10in ones on then after tigthening them cut of the excess...
