!992 3vze heads problem

I pulled the heads off of my 3.0 and found that there was some electrolysis going on and my coolant holes are bigger from it. They have been eaten away pretty badly about 1/8 inch all the way around them. So i brought them to my local shop to have them milled and checked and he did not say that it was bad have any of you seen this and are they safe to use? Or should I dump them

Pics??

What do the headgaskets look like when laid up against them??

If the surfaces that seal against the gasket are still intact, they may be OK.

Did the machine shop pressure test them??

I do not know the 3.0 but it also happens on the 22 motor. They can weld up the ports and machine them back to the way they need to be. In some cases what it cost to machine work done, you can spend less and come out further ahead on just buying new heads. If it is just one port and everything else is good, it might just be worth having them to repair it, otherwise start looking at different options.

To cut down on the errosion, flush the system more often and make sure your grounds are in place. Two different metals will automatically start fighting each other. Steel block and aluminum head.

yea the gaskets will seal when you lay them up. He had to mill them 4 and 1/2 thousandths and they looked a lot better after words. I am a worrier and hate doing a twelve hour job to times. But if this is common i will use them. Thanks
