I have a 95 runner and the bearing on the fan mount bracket seized. I went to the stealership and they want over a grand for the bracket with pulleys and fan clutch. I was able to get a Dorman bracket locally. I know the issues about quality, but I can't pay a grand for the factory one and decided to give the Dorman a try. The problem is that it won't fit. It goes on most of the way and then stops about a quarter of an inch from where it should go. I can't figure this out. Has anyone else encountered this and if so what did you do. I have also found an AISIN brand (that was the OEM) and have it on order. Is there any chance of putting a new bearing in the old housing? Please help. It is the 3.0 engine

 

Or just go electric.

 

I would go electric for the fan, but that doesn't solve the problem of needing the pully for the power steering pump belt and the alternator belt. Can you get shorter belts and run direct from the cam pully for those?

 

lol sorry i didnt read the whole thread. Im not sure how it works on the 3.0. But check parts stores for different brands, ones that might actually fit

No problem. That got me to thinking that I might be able to eliminate the fan mount bracket as far as using it for the pulleys by going direct from the main shaft pulleys and just using the fan mount bracket to hold the tensioner for the timing belt.

Has anyone done this?

 

My replacement wouldn't fit either.
So I tried to squeeze it on by tightening the nut.
I thought the hole in the alloy bracket would expand... wrong.
I ended up cracking the bracket.
The cheap replacement needs the hole drilled out just at the end. If you look at the original bracket you will see what I mean.
If you look at the peg that the bracket slides on to, the peg is larger where it fastens the engine by a couple of millimeters.

 

I also want to just replace the fan bracket bearings on my 3.4L
I dont want to go electric; Id rather try to find a way to replace the bearings, or take it to a machine shop and see if they can rig something up with new bearings, maybe by modifying the shaft or something.
I searched the forums, it seems many people have asked the same question, 'can the bearings be replaced?', yet no one seems to have actually tried or succeeded at doing it.
Does anyone have pictures of the actual shaft&bearings inside the fan bracket?
