95 4runner; problem getting started
I have an 95 4runner, 3.0 v6, auto. I have problems getting it started after it warms up. Scenerio..Starts fine cold, but after driving it, if you shut it off and start it right away it will start, but if you shut it off and try to start it 15-20 mins later it wont start. This is repeatable time after time. When it wont start, the engine cranks just like it should (strong) so i now the starter is good. Spark is present and fuel pressure is good. Anyone with any ideas please help. Thanks

mine's a 91 manual 3.0- had that same problem for months now. i troubleshot just about everything electronic and i think i found that the idle air control switch is out of specs. i dropped it off with toyota this morning to see what they think- i'll post the results later. by the way- this problem blew out 2 distributors already so be careful trying to start it too much when it doesnt want to

I had almost the exact same problem with my 91 V6 4Runner. My starter turned strong, I had great fuel pressure, and spark.....we couldn't get the injectors to fire off to get fuel into to the cylinders. We could manually jump them and once that occurred the truck ran fine. We tracked the problem down to find that the ground connection on the backside of the engine was loose and when the engine was cold it wasn't making connection but when the engine had warmed up, things expanded back there due to the heat and the connection was made. This ground had been removed when I had my head gasket recall work preformed years ago and the bolt was never tightened up completely.....over time it loosened up and fell out causing the spade connector end to make occasional connections. This ground is a main ground for the ECU as a part of the ignition loop. The ECU was giving the signal to fire the injectors but since the ground wasn't connected the circuit wasn't complete and the signal wasn't being sent. I found the bolt caught in the harness....fortunately it hadn't fallen and got lost. I screwed it in tight and the truck starts perfect!
The ground spade connection is on the top rear of the engine on the passenger side. It is tucked under the plenum almost next to the transmission sensor in the coolant block. Check that ground on you truck and I think you'll find your problem solved.
