how do i remove it to get to the taillight wiring

 

Up above your tailgate is a panel that must come off first. That panel just snaps off and underneath it is a screw on each side of it that holds the two big side panels, take those screws out and just gently pull on the big panels. If you want them completely off you must also remove the seat belts and the 2 small panels that are right next to the rear seat on either side. It is very easy.
