My new 85

Well here's 4runner number 6, a red 85 SR5 I picked up last month. Rear quarter panels will be in the first of August from toyotafiberglass. Has anyone done a install post on the panels? I've searched.

i've been studying this sort of thing, because i need to open up the rear wheel wells on my 4runner.

panel bond epoxy is probably very applicable to a large portion of this install?

That 4Runner looks pretty good already!

By panel bond epoxy you mean auto body adhesive by 3M? That's the stuff. I think Slacker, the manufacturer has an old thread somewhere where he shows how to install the sides. I think it involves body adhesive and lots and lots of clamps. Harbor Freight has clamps for really cheap. If you don't have one near you they are pretty fast with shipping. So maybe message Slacker and see if he can point to a thread you need. Take pictures! We are all watching!

yes, panel body adhesive, there are different grades of it, and some of them are for use on metal-to-fiberglass joints.

it looks like the guns to apply the dual-cartridge adhesive can be expensive, but evercoat offers single-cartridge adhesive mix that can be used in 26-1 drive guns, which can be had for $35 or less?

if you leave the mixing cone off of the cartridge, you can use a cheapo gun to squirt the resin/hardener out onto cardboard or something, and then mix it up like bondo.

even in the best metal-to-metal case, it can't be used in load-bearing applications, so rivets or something will probably also apply here, in certain areas.

Eastwood panel body adhesive refills are $19.99 per tube and can be applied with a normal caulk gun. I'm pleased with all the Eastwood products I've used. Look here for the refill:
