94 toyota pu , code reader , is there one

I have a 94 P/U , the check light came on .

I had it cheked out and and they said it was the O2 sencer, but it might be other things too.

I have a repair manuel so Im gonna have start there .

My question is , is there a code reader for my year truck or what steps should I take to get this thing running good because its time to smog it and Im in California and the smog laws are no joke out here.

Any advice would be great. Thanks Ed.

take a small paper clip and stick one end in your E1 terminal in the diagnostic port and the other in TE2 and jump them together. this will cause your check engine light to flash in a numerical sequence and reveal all of your trouble codes. for example 7 flashes a short pause and 1 flash is code 71 egr malfunction. give it a go you do not need to buy a code reader it is already built in. also when your done if you pull your efi fuse for a couple mins. it will reset the ecu and clear the codes

it's connected to two terminals in the diagnostics port, next to the fuse box.
I think we spend way too much time on yotatech.
