94 PU Starting issue
When I turn the key, I hear a clicking sound under the glove box, but the engine does not turn over. If I leave the key turned, and push in / release the clutch, I find a spot where the engine turns over and the truck is good to go.
What would cause this?

Neutral start switch fried? Try this:
Put the truck in neutral, press the clutch start cancel button while turning the key. Does it start? If so, it's likely your neutral start switch not functioning properly. Sometimes they just loosen up, other times they need to be replaced.

connections to the battery loose. the PO put garbage connectors to the batteries and they wont tighten. so sometimes the truck will click when i try to start it so i just try to make it a bit tighter. maybe the battery posts are very dirty

Toyota starters have a copper contact in them that wears out over time. They cost around $5 from the dealer. Do a search and you will find 50 posts about the starter contacts. The factory starters are worth repairing.
