94 Pickup Rocker Panel / Sill replacement time.

Going to be cutting out the Rocker panels out of my 94 Base Pickup.

I'm looking at an alternative to the standard looking factory part and have seen
people install a square tube in place of the rocker panel.

I'd like some input from anybody whom has done this rather than replace the rocker panel.

Like the tube size and length and weather welded to the body or to the box frame some pics would be great.

I've tried searching and not found what I'm looking for, I'm also out in the boonies get internet through dish and searching sucks and would like to come to some conclusion prior to cutting the rusty panel out, buy the replacement parts or buy the best size tube.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

It is all what you want.

I have made them slider type where they tied into the frame .

then just used Tubing to replace the Rocker panel area .

Then some had the added benefit of adding an extra step.

Me I go with something that works over something pretty .

Pretty common to replace rockers with some rectangular box tubing

see post 10 in this thread.

Plus they make kick ass jack stands

that post will give you the idea, seems like you could do it with out tying it into the frame.

Personally I'd do the above, but with a piece of rectangle instead of square. Depending on width you use you'll get a little lip to use as a step and side impact protection, not just from below.
