I have recently aquired a 94 4Runner (188K miles) with the V6 engine, the prior owner spent $1000 (more or less) on all new brake parts including the booster. Since getting my 4runner, I have had nothing but trouble with the brakes. Last night I figured out that the auto parts store sold the prior owner a brake booster for a vehicle with ABS (part # 53-6000 or A1536000),
mine does not have ABS (part # 53-8260 or A1538260).
Thank the stars he kept all the reciepts.....

What damage, if any, can this cause? I am putting the correct booster on it today, i just want to know what i should look for or what it may have affected anywhere in any of the system.

Shouldn't cause any damage that I can think of. Do a good job bleeding the master and the wheels and hopefully you'll be fine.

 

Thanks I am relieved to hear no damage.... I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out what is wrong.... EVERYTHING has been replaced. Gotta love the guys behind the parts counters at local retailers......
