93 4runner ac doesnt blow

okay so im back with another problem with my truck. its a 1993 3.0. just a couple of days ago i was driving home from lowes and my ac was on the setting just before high and it cut out for a second and stopped blowing, it eventually came back on and ran fine until the next day. the next day i was headed out and i could smell dust coming from my ac and i parked it and when i came back and started the truck, the ac stopped blowing no matter what setting. but then i was messing with it and switching back and forward through every setting and when i switched from low to medium, it would work, if i moved it to the next setting it would stop blowing again but as soon as i moved it back to low, it worked. it would only work on the low setting or the middle setting but never on the higher settings. the weird thing was was that on the low setting, it blew as hard as it would on the setting before high. just yesterday my girlfriend was messing with it and now every setting doesnt work. when i get moving i can still feel cold ac come out but it doesnt blow. i did replace the resistor but that didnt work. please help, i live in arizona and its supposed to hit 106 this week.

How could it be anything but the heater blower switch? http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...g/25heater.pdf

You can probably fix it, but keep in mind that a brand-new replacement part is around $60 (if you know where to shop).

mmmm, it might be that whole control panel with the vent controls thats going bad. Worst case, if it needs to be replaced, that whole panel should just slide out and a new one should be able to be installed.

I think the "whole panel" (with temperature and directional controls) is composed of levers that pull/push on cables, which in turn operate "doors.: The $60 switch plugs into "the whole panel."

If it's bad, it needs to be replaced, but that would only be if the temperature and directional controls no longer worked. Otherwise, I wouldn't be too eager to tackle that job.
