93 4runner 2wd auto transmission help

I am looking to replace my bad tranny with one from a junk yard. I've been told that only a 92-93 model will work. I have found several from a 91 and 95. What is the difference and why won't other years work? Is there any way to make the other years work?

Thanks

I have found that the 90-91, and 94-95 2wd auto trannys had mechanical speedometers, and the 92-93 and electronic controlled speedometers.

I have a new question. Can the tailshaft housing on the 92-93 replace the tailshaft housing on the other years to convert them into electronic controlled? and will this work.

I think this is the only difference. At least I hope.

Worst comes to worst just take the speedo out of a compatible gauge cluster?

Literally had this problem YESTERDAY! Ok, for starters I have a 1994 4runner, 3.0, had the A340H with the ELECTRONIC speedo. However, my R150F has a MANUAL speedo. I actually found that the T-100's (the few with a 3.0) had an electronic speed0 that would fit on the R150F. It took a bit of customizing. I had to replace the top of one sensor to work with the bottom. but it works. I will see if I can find some photos.
