I have a 1992 toyota pickup and I am having some starting issues. It started out the truck was cutting out while driving. Then it would shut off when I switched from drive to reverse or drive to park. I changed the fuel pump and the problem continued, I changed the fuel filter and there was no change. I then changed the fuel relay and still had the same issues. I let the truck sit over night and when I went to work on it the next day it wouldn't even crank. I checked the plugs and they were getting no spark, I have sense changed the ignition coil and ignition control module. I am still getting no spark. The truck will turn over but will not start. My mechanical skills are not the best and other then changing the distributor cap, which by the way looks good, I am at a loss. Please help

 

Everyone's got to start somewhere, so you should get a multimeter http://www.harborfreight.com/7-funct...ter-98025.html and a timing light http://www.harborfreight.com/xenon-t...ight-3343.html The multimeter is used to check for everything electrical (and everything about this truck is electrical). The timing light is the easy way to check for spark, and you're going to need it to set the timing anyway.

Then look at the manual http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...e/onvehicl.pdf (free, so there is no reason not to use it every day). Use your newly-acquired tools to follow the diagnoses given there.

The timing light, multimeter, and manual together will cost less than any one of the unneeded parts you installed. This is your chance to get started on the right foot.
