This was the stuff.....you guys don't mean the 3 rails on the assembly...right?

you all mean the nut / screw combo above the valves...right?

That is correct the adjusting screws on the rocker arms need to be loosened up prior to installing the head.

see if you have any recollection of this little piece.....

on the rocker assembly, on the intake side, each "leg" that a head bolt goes through has a round barrel-like attachment....but not the exhaust side. I don't see any mention of it in the books or any of the exploded views of the parts......

those "barrels"....are the things that made it tough to get this thing to seat the right way when i put it together 2 weeks ago

From: Bryan Tx,
those are to properly align the rocker assembly with the head, they are ment to be a tight fit. They should go back on fairly easilly you may have to give them a few SOFT blows with a dead blow hammer. Like it was said before, just be sure that the valve adjusters are backed off & the rockers are loose.

You be right...They are also there, in my belief, so that you don't put things together backwards as well.

I was gone for a bit...had to do a Jeep recovery at the mall this evening. Luckily I think it was just the battery. But it took almost 2 hours of my evening.

ya messed with if for a bit with another truck (father-in-law) charging it. I cleanup the neg terminal and drove it home. Going to have a look at it and probably change the battery. Just another $80 I didn't plan on spending this week. -sigh- I guess Ted is going to have to wait a bit longer till I place an order.
