OK...may have a problem.

been having that exhaust leak from where the manifold meets the down pipe for quite some time now.....keep that in mind.

Monday (3 days ago),start up the truck, idles rough, real rough for a few seconds, then it's good....
last week, had a little (one)....hesitation when i stepped on the gas.....thinking that it's had been quite cold lately, and i've experienced water in my gas before years ago, i bought some dry gas and put it in.....then filled up the tank as well.

so i did the math.......hesitation last week (once), rough idle for a few seconds 3 days ago, but then experienced a hesitation again tonight.

likewise, smelling what i would describe as "rich" exhaust.....kinda like your's smells XXXTREME.

likewise, likewise, looked at my trip odometer.....my tank is at or below 1/4 right now....says 171 miles......i usually get around 250 miles to a tank......have not been in 4wd, no a/c of course, no real stop and go driving, just my normal stuff.....for which, i should get 250 miles to this tank.

No check engine light.
runs absolutely fine (with those few exceptions).
great heat, no leaks anywhere(fluids)

think it's time for 3 new nuts on that exhaust. could i be messing with my ECU since my leak is pre-O2 sensor? could it be telling me to run richer?

makes sense to me.

one way to find out is seal it up and see how it goes.

input?

yup, exhaust leak before the o2 sensor will most likely cause the o2 not to read enough fuel in the exhaust leading the ECU to send more.

take a spark plug out or two and check to see what they look like as well.

nuts are tightened up again, used some RED threadlocker on 2 of them and tightened the hell out of it.....all 3 were loose enough to be manipulated easily with my hand.

gonna let that setup for a few hours and see how it goes.

conveniently, got a 10% of Toyota Parts coupon from one of the 2 local dealers yesterday, will call on Tuesday and at least order those nuts and see if they can get me a good price on Joe's gasket set.

I am not trying to take away from anyone but I cant make a thread yet and I need help. I have a 84 Toyota Pick-up 4x4 with a 1992 Toyota 22r-e in it. I bought it a couple weeks ago and got it to run but it runs and then when I hit the gas for the second time it dies. It also will idle for about 2 minutes then die. Anyone have any thoughts?
