92 coil to 88 distributor cord

I've got a dilemma. My truck is a 92 with an 88 motor, and I happen to have a 92 ignition coil and an 88 distributor. A 92 has a totally different connection at both the coil and the dist. compared to an 88. But heres the kicker: the PO to the PO who did the motor swap somehow found a cord to connect the two. And it's a yazaki cord (an OE toyota part). I took the trek up to the dealer today with the cord in hand to see if they could match it, but of course they were utterly useless. The only identification the cord has on it is "YAZAKI 2004 R-16-AIES-Z 16" Does anybody know the part number for this cord, or know some way to find it? Currently, I'm running the 88 cord which doesn't fit the coil but I have it electrical taped on with gobs of dielectric grease inside to conduct the current. I need to get this done properly!

I was thinking about swapping caps, that'll be my last resort if all else fails. I just don't wanna buy all new plug wires, that's all.

are you kidding?

swapping caps is honestly SUPER easy... its about 30 bucks to swap cap, cables, and plugs... Trust me, swapping distributors is way harder, cuz then u gotta worry about getting the timing back.

Then again, thinking about ur dilemma, see if the auto parts dealer has a chord that matches the end of ur chord that hooks into ur ignition coil, and see if they have a distributor cap that matches the other end... from what i remember, both my ignition coil and cap used the exact same plug.

what what what? How is that 30 bucks? The cap itself is 20 bucks, a wire set is 60 bucks... I might end up swapping coils if I can find one for a decent price...
