92' 4x4 A340 Transmission Question

I recently bought a 92' 4Runner, 3VZE, Auto, 4x4 202k mi on it. Head Gasket, Water Pump, & Timing Change were all done at 180k & tune-up performed when smogged when I bought it by the previous owner whom is a local mechanic and shop owner.

I was told recently that my A340 Trans does not have a Filter but just a mesh screen in it. I just changed the oil and hit all the zerk fittings and planned on I doing some preventative maintenance (i.e. Diff Oil change, Tranny Fluid, Filter if need be) and wanted to know if this is true ? if it was then I was just going to change the fluid and not touch the pan for now.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated,

Paul

It has a fine steel mesh screen. They don't get very dirty unless your transmission has problems.
