New owner of a '92 4Runner I bought for a daily driver / adventurer. Got a pretty good steal, 121,000 miles, body is clean, some oxydation on the hood but for the age, cannot complain. No rust, straight as an arrow, typical interior wear and tear for the age. Mechanically its pretty sound. 2500 bucks. Mechanic sold to me as previous owner racked up a hefty bill for a simple wire harness fix that was found after tearing apart the engine trying to find the issue and decided to sell. Just looking for some advice as I would like to make a pretty decent build. Hoping to repaint here soon. Would like to put a 1-2" lift and get some solid wheels and tires on her. Suggestions/recommendations to look into? Been driving for a couple of days and its definitely idling pretty high. Might be due to it being winter here in CO and the cold starts, havent driven enough yet to tell. I plan on taking a look at the throttle body and IAC and cleaning it out here in the next few days when I have time. Maybe adjusting idle screw and see if that helps. Its not throwing any codes, just the high idle. Will take some more pics in the next few days also. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

What are you looking for exactly? wheels and tire recommendation? Did you fix the high idle? I would do a full tune up before anything, Oil+filter, Fuel filter, air filter, new spark plugs cap, rotor and wires check the brakes (safety first). Then dig into timing, make sure the battery and alt are in good shape.

Do you have the owner's Manual? Start by going through the Service Schedule: http://web.archive.org/web/201210210.../1maintena.pdf

You probably don't know diddly about the past service, so figure you have to do everything on the list. (Including the timing belt.)

You have the alloy wheels; you're not going to improve on them. But if it's for cosmetics, that's up to you.

Same with painting; how much do want to spend on a 26-year old truck that is worth $2500? If cosmetics are important to you, go for it!

old87yota is right. Not all browsers handle PDFs the same way. I use Chrome on a desktop and it works fine. On a phone, I have no idea.
