92 3.0 leaking.
My neighbor's 3.0 is leaking oil from the driver side of the motor. There is a coolant hose towards the back of the block attached to some cylinder shaped doodad[kind of looks like a hockey puck]. He seems to think the oil is coming from there but I am not really sure if oil should be coming from the doodad. I figured it was leaking down from the valve cover or coming from the oil filter and blowing back when he's driving. His fan clutch works really well, I can hear his truck from 2 blocks away. Any help would be great. thanks,Joe

The cylinder shaped "doodad"
is the engine oil cooler. Not uncommon for one of those to leak. You can get a set of gaskets from the dealer for about 7 bucks if I can remember. It might be possible that the valve cover gaskets are leaking too if they've never been changed.

Yeah, I just paid almost $10 for those gaskets at toyotapartsoutlet.com, free ship right now. Your local dealership parts counter will be 2x that, if it's like the ones in Austin. There are three separate gaskets, P/Ns 90301-61003 (base), 90210-22001 (bolt), 15785-35010 (internal). Also two hoses that could be suspect; mine got soft after too much exposure to oil.
The valve covers are another likely suspect. They need gasket sealer on the corners; see the FSM for details.
