By the way, one other thing. The subject title has the wrong year, it's an 89 truck, not a 92. Not sure what I was thinking at the time.

Funny you ask Thatguy1295. Last week I found a 1985 solid axle and I purchased it! So I am about 1/3 the way there. I have found a 1993 four runner that I am bartering with the current owner as a parts downer truck for the transmission and transfer case.

The big question mark I have is what to do with the rear axle. Due to the unique bolt pattern there are no after market rims for this bolt pattern. As a result I am considering an adaptor to convert over the normal 6 lug bolt pattern. My other option is to use a landcruiser axle from a 93 to 96 model. I am told they are full floaters and that's what I need for the weight. The last thing I need to do is to figure out what kit to buy for the solid axle front end.

Have you checked into what blake.nemitz was saying about the ifs front hub fitting on the rear axle? Just cerious, would be cool if that worked. From what I gather it should.

I do agree some thought needs to be takin for the sas kit, considering its a motorhome and has not been done much, if at all. And it may very well end up being a custom fab deal IMO. Well keep us updated, Ill do some looking into it aswell.

Said it before, but i am excited about this build, hope to see it workout.

I did think about using the IFS hubs for a bit but I got stumped when thinking about the Emg-Brake. The other thing I was not clear on was the axle may be different. I can't remember if the rear floating axle had splines similar to the IFS front axle splines???

For the transfer case, you could get a "v6 adapter" from Inchworm and put an old gear driven case on. That'd be the preferred setup to the shared fluid trans/tranny combo. Then could do 23 spline and 4.7 gear case if you were so inclined.

Vasinvictor, is there a big performance difference between the shared fluid transmission/transfer case vs the older gear driven case? I currently have a automatic transmission but it's on a 2wd not a 4wd. I think the actual transmission is different between the 2wd vs the 4wd, not sure though. From a cost perspective I was thinking about using the parts vehicle and just moving the trans/transfercase over as is for now. Do you know if they had many problems with the combo style transmissions/tcase that shared atf fluid?

THB you should call Inchworm and ask if their V6 adapter will fit your transmission. If you used a trans/transfer case unit, your issue probably wouldn't be with the chain drive transfer case, rather it would be if the truck transmission itself has the beef to handle a motorhome. If the v6 adapter would work for your application, you'd have your stock tranny you know could handle the weight and still get your 4wd.

My 92 dually has factory 5-speed-always see automatics in uhauls and motorhomes. My door jamb code reveals 4.3 rear. Lousy in 1st, great on highway. Always wondered what low automatic would be like especially with your 4wd`scheme.
