91 toyota pick up leans to passenger side

my 91 toyota pick up leans to the right side more than usual. i know that there is a displacement for a driver about 185 lbs but its ridiculous. i replaced all the shocks and i think its the leaf springs. is therer somthing i can do to fix it myself?

Mine leans to the driver's. Maybe we can get together, and level out our trucks

The springs wear unevenly, usually due to things like a whold load of gas weighing one side down for 18 years. A new set of springs usually fixes it.

Tighten the torsion bar adjustment on the low side. My truck leaned to the left when I bought it. Adjusted the torsion bars to level it out, now it's good. Be warned, running up one side brings the other side up just a little too. You've gotta adjust, then drive it a bet to let it settle. Measure. Bang head. Re-adjust. Repeat as nessecary.

ok ok! If you look about 3 feet behind the front tires inside the frame rails you will see an adjustment bolt on the end of your torsion bar. there is one on each side. tighten to raise, loosen to lower. jacking the truck up would make them turn easier.

Any idea how much adjustment you get for each turn? To level it out are we talking about 1/2 turn or 15 turns? And I would guess there is also the option of loosening the high side to lower it?

Glad it worked for you. When I leveled mine I realized that an idiot must have had it apart at some point because I had to tighten the left side until the bolt was out of threads and the right side was sitting up at like a 45* angle. I got the screeching out of the left side when I was finishing it up. I went back to it a few weeks later to take the left side apart and re-align the bellcrank (or whetever you want to call it...I'm an aircraft mechanic, it's a bellcrank to me) and the bolt broke. It's even now, but it's held together by an 8" long length of 12mm threaded rod, like 8 nuts, and about 6 washers. Looks like Dr Seuss did it.

PB blaster..
You don't need a torque wrench to tighten it..
Just tighten (or loosen) and check your ride height.
1-2 turns won't raise it an inch.. the threads are VERY fine, so you'll have to turn it ALOT.

Can anyone provide a pic of what the nuts and bolt look like at this torsion bar? Possibly a before and after pic.

OK I have located this part, but do I need to hold to nut at the top while I turn the bottum with the ratchet or should I loosen the nuts then turn? Which way do I need to turn this bolt to raise this side of the truck?

righty tighty lefty loosey...
tighter will raise it, looser will lower it..
i put a big pipe wrench on the bolts..
i couldn't get the locking bolt loose so i just muscled both of them tighter.

I just tightened on the bottom one caue i could get to it, and it worked so you dont need to hold the top one. Just tighten the side that leans to raise it.

Well, mine wasn't seized to the bracket that holds it on so i actually had to hold it :/

you should have checked to see if they actually just tightened one side, because you probably could have lowered the too-high side, too.

Those adjusting bolts can break. Tightening the nut side is way easier on that bolt AND you don't have to hold anything.
You will need to have it aligned after you adjust the height.
