91 pickup Transmission shifting before 30

Hey everyone i have a 1991 toyota pickup 4x4 ive been fighting with it has the 3vze 3.0 and an auto transmission. It drove great when i got it but shortly after it started having shift issues when cold. It has 3 fazes shifts into only 3 gears at 20mph run it for a bit... Then it will go into over drive but it happens before i reach 30mph. After that i can drive if for a mile at 35mph stop manually shift it through all the gears and it works fine. I have replaced the shift solinoids. Put in a new filter and replaced the fluid from the pan. Cleaned the egr valve put new plug and wires. Waiting for my tps and rotor and cap to come in... Im running out of options anyone have any idea what i need to do

if the tps has a dead spot or is bad it the trans will think you let off the throttle completely shifting up thorough the gears into overdrive. whether your on the gas or not. 4crawler has a good writeup on testing the tps. http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml

Do you know which transmission you have (you better, if you're replacing parts. It's on the door pillar.) The A340E, A340F and A340H are all electronically controlled, AND they will check the TPS for you http://web.archive.org/web/201408160...34electron.pdf (page 191). 4crawler's method (which is taken from the FSM) is fine for checking the part, but what you care about is whether the transmission ECU is getting the right answer. Get it straight from the horse's mouth!

(Plus, it's SO much easier letting the ECU do all the work.)

I did run the codes and got the tps code... It can really cause it to shift that erratically. I am waiting for my new one to come in... Tranny is an A340H Thats what I got the solinoids for another threadnsaid that could have been the problem
