91 pickup - 4WD TROUBLE
When i put the truck into 4wd it runs fine while going straight, however when i make a good right or left turn it starts to bog down and it will completely stop the truck from moving if i turn the wheel all the way. it only does this in 4wd. works completely fine in 2wd.
thanks,
Bryan

I second what teuf said. Part time 4wd (which is what we have on our trucks) is NOT meant to be used on pavement. It will eventually destroy something. With that said, even on dirt, your engine will be working much harder in 4wd, especially turning sharply. You don't have a problem with your 4wd, that's completely normal.

just to explain: when your turning, your front and rear wheels need to turn at different speeds, because they are at different radiuses in the arc that your truck is trying to make. . . . . .
ummmm imagine your truck with the wheels turned, all 4 tires take a different path to get to a destination, some have a longer distance to travel than the others, and thus, need to rotate faster.
in 4wd, your front and rear tires are locked together, forced to rotate at exatly the same speed. when you turn, they have to fight each-other throughout untill you straiten your wheels again.
to illustrait, find some dirt, put in 4, and crank the wheel. notice that you dont turn near as tight. because some tires are slipping, actually turning too fast or too slow for their respective position on the vehicle, through its arc
