I'm trying to figure out what the hell is rattling underneath when I'm coasting. It's an intermitent buzzing rattling sound that only occurs when I'm not on the gas. I've checked all kinds of fittings, replaced the muffler cat-back, checked for obvious stuff in the engine bay, checked the skid plates but can't find the culprit. I hear it most around town when coasting with the clutch engaged (in gear) and it immediatly goes away if I get back on the gas. Is this symptomatic of anything in particular, like worn motor mounts? It seems to be coming from the area near the tranny, but it's kinda hard to tell 'cause I can't get it to make the noise when I'm parked in the garage. Any ideas?

 

motor mounts, maybe. t-case mount, maybe. i think you just got lucky with not having anything come loose until now. welcome to the "what the hell is that noise?" club
