91 22RE Knock Sensor Wire - Where is it?
Alright, I have an issue with my truck and I was hoping you guys could help me figure it out. My truck is a 1991 Toyota Pickup. I bought it from some tiny used car sales guy and it had a few problems I've been working out. The latest is the CEL that comes on. I shorted the two pins as needed and got a code 52, which refers to the knock sensor. I checked my engine block to find...no knock sensor. IIRC this was supposed to be at the 10:00 position relative to the oil filter. There was nothing there, just a threaded hole. I figured this should get resolved as it is killing my fuel economy (averaged 15.6mpg last tank) and robbing some power.
Note, this is the 4x4 model, not the 2x4. This was supposed to have the knock sensor. I ordered the following Toyota knock sensor as recommended from another forum, but I sent an e-mail requesting a cancellation if the part does not fit a 1991 toyota pickup, 22re:
The guy that worked on the truck before me didn't exactly do things the "right" way. I have in my engine bay a few wires that don't seem to go anywhere. Two are pigtail connectors that don't plug into anything and the last one is just a random stray wire with exposed copper, like someone cut it and stripped it waiting to use it for something. Among these three, I have no idea which one is supposed to go to the knock sensor.
Could anyone provide me with some instructions or pictures to assist me in determining which wire should be the knock sensor wire? Perhaps, a wire color so I can try to determine if the cut wire is the one I need to be looking for?
I can get some pictures as well. Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to follow up on this. I was able to get the above linked knock sensor working. Plugged it in, went out for a drive, and the check engine light was no longer on.
