9 MPG 4runner
#22
No smoke.
When my fuel light comes on I put 10 gallons of gas in and usualy get about 90 miles when the light comes back on.
What if I unhook my kick down cable from the throtle body? Will this keep it from kicking down when I lightly press the pedal and can this cause any damage.
Also what can I add to the trany fluid to help.
Thanks.
Kevin

8%...90 miles traveled becomes 97.2 miles.

I live in Iowa so it could be gas.
The 4runner coast fine but I'll grease every zert I can find.
I poured SeaFoam down the booster tube (my wife thought the Runner blew up)
I'll do the rest of the tune up ohharleyman said and post my results after the nest tank of gas.
Thanks Guys.

Should only be 8 all on the drive shafts.
though some have come through the shop with one on each upper ball joint, and 2 on the steering. so maybe 12.

Heres what I recommend, as I was getting near what you were saying.
-1/2 can in the brake booster line (2 treatments recommended way apart). 2 - 3 in the tank. $25
-Replace plugs with NGK G-Power, or V-Power $20
-Replace wires with either stock or NGK ($36)
-Replace cap & rotor with stock $25
-Change out all fluids. Get 10W-30 Mobil1 High Mileage, and change out the rear diff and front diff with Mobil1 75W-90. Also drain and fill, or do a flush on the trans (15 qts.)
-Check air pressure in the tires
-Change ADD to manual hubs $20 - $200
-When accelerating, don't go past 2.75k RPM (It's a little slower, but it helps)
That all should net you a damn good amount of MPG. I used to get piss poor, but now on the highway in winter weather and winter gas I get 20 MPG.
Another thing, do post a video of what you are saying. I THINK I might know what you are talking about, but I'm not sure.

Instead of adding SEAFOAM to your tank, you might try 1/2 quart DEXRON/MERCON ATF fluid in the tank at your next fillup. The detergents do a great job of cleaning out the injectors and it doesn't cause any harm to the motor at all as long as you don't go overboard. Only use 1/2 quart per fillup and do it at least 2x. I picked 4-5 mpg on my 22RE and it had a hell of a lot more power. This works better than the SEAFOAM or the fuel injector cleaner additives ever did. Just my 2cents
