Driving my yota the other day i noticed that when im doing over 50, my truck will lightly bounce a few seconds and then stop. Then a few seconds later it does it again.( By bounce i mean it feels similar to driving over a rough surface like gravel.) My first thought was bad alignment, or chopped tires, but tires are wearing very smooth and it drives straight as an arrow when i let go of the wheel. Its been doing this for a while (about a year) so its probably not a serious issue, but i would like to get it fixed. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you fix it? Thanks for the help.

 

When my truck was new-to-me, at highway speeds it vibrated enough to feel like a tire out of balance. It turned out one of the tires had a "hop," and it was replaced by Goodyear under warranty.

This is different than what you describe; I had the vibration all the time.

 

What kind of condition are your shocks in?

 

I haven't replaced the shocks since i had the truck and i don't think the PO did either. They could very possibly be the factory shocks. They don't seem to be really soft or hard, but they probably need replacing. I was thinking it might be the shocks, but i figured id ask before replacing them.

 

I bet that's exactly what it is. My shocks are toast as well and I get the same characteristics you speak of.

 

My votes also for shocks. My 94 truck felt drove terrible before I did new shocks, almost felt like it was trying to leave the ground

 

Shocks was the first thing to come to mind when reading your post
They are not preventing your spring from oscillating/porpoising
my guess is the air/nitrogen charge is gone, if disco one end and compress it and does not return on it's own it is shot
