89 4runner oil light question

89 4runner oil light question
So I have the basic modle 4runner, and there is no oil gage. Does anybody know if the oil light only comes on when the oil level is low, or when the pressure is low too?

should be for pressure i think? wouldent think it would be just cuz its low or maybe?? but 30 bucks for a 3 gauge pod with oil pres/ water temp/ and Volt meter

There is no oil level sensor. If the light comes on with the engine running--shut it off--the pressure is dangerously low.

lol, well if you run too low on oil, you'll loose oil pressure, so yeah low oil will throw the light on too

but yeah, it just comes on when the pressure drops too far
