88 v6 starts but doesnt stay running

i bought this truck not to long ago form a guy that left it out int e Arizona desert (His back yard). after a year the pac rats got in there and made home. they chewed most of the wiring. after replacing the wiring i tried to turn it on and it started but it doesn't stay running unless i hit the throttle. but theirs a catch if i disconnect the throttle position sensor it stays running. does that mean its no good or that i did some crapy wiring?

Wow. There are so many things that could be. I suggest you get friendly with the FSM & a multimeter....

OR, you can get an entire wiring harness for about $550.00....

I would first suggest to test the TPS per the service manual. If it checks out, trace the wiring.

Of course, the TPS may just need adjusting and is not necessarily bad.

since you say you've had rats in there...
... and they've chewed on things...
... and that it keeps running if you hit the throttle or disconnect the tps but dies otherwise ...
have you checked your vacuum hoses and intake duct for any breaches, no matter how small?

disconnecting the tps can force the ecu to compensate somewhat for a small vacuum leak between the throttle and afm since it richens the fuel mixture: a little vacuum leak and some extra fuel will raise the idle speed high enough to possible keep enough air flowing through the afm to keep the fuel pump via the circuit opening relay turned on.
