1988 runner 22re tranmission woes

so ive got this 4 runner that i have put literally hundreds of hours into, an easy 200 on port work alone. just when i am getting her all dialed in it starts poppin out of 1st i change out the bushing and cup no help and its starting to pop out of 3rd now. this will be my first toyota M/T I have split, so to any of the transmission guru's out there what can i expect to find, are there any pitfalls the avg. mech. may find himself in when rebuilding one of these.
the dissapointing thing is the truck only has 178k but the previous owner obviously did not believe in changing fluids of any sort when i drained the diffs, transfer case, and transmission it came out thinner than water and all manner of differant colors.......lmao the front diff. held less than a cup of the thin silvery goop...ugh ;( i wont get into the rest of the vitals........any help or input would be greatly appreiciated. Thank you

Lol the out pouring of info is overwhelming :-) so any hoodily i took a different route rather than split the tranny. I pulled the shift lever again added an extra spacer to give the spring more oomf and i bent the shifter below the fulcrum to increase the throw into 1st and 3rd it did wonders, but i know i am living in borrowed time. Its starting to scratch going into second during high rpm operation, but it not predictable, sometimes i can be revved to the moon with the motor bleeding and screaming for mercy ans it shifts smooth as butter other times second gear lets me know hoq displeased it is.....happens in the up and down shift. Oh and its starting to occasionly pop out of first and third again.

It sounds like the synchronizers are getting bad .My 2wd done the same with thing with 2 and 4, but since I needed the truck for work it got a used trans. Good luck with repairs.

imagine that... you bent the lever and it works better.
that should tell you alot... like maybe the forks are bent
from people forcing it into gear or who knows.
since it's fighting going into 2nd now, that should tell you something....

a man went to the doctor and told the doctor that every time he bent his wrist over backwards it hurts.
the doctor told him to stop bending it over backwards.
