I have just replaced the water pump on my 3.0 runner. I have the timing belt back in place, but I am one tooth off from where I removed it and there is a little slack between the cam gear and the water pump. Does any one have a suggestion as to how to remove that slack? I sent almost an hour last night trying to get this tight. Or, will this correct it's self once the motor is stated?

When you have the belt around the crankshaft timing pulley, the water pump pulley and the #1 idler, turn the left (on your right) cam pulley just a little bit clockwise, put the belt on with two of the of the marks lined up (belt mark, and pulley mark), and then turn the pulley back to where it should be. At this point, all three marks (pulley, belt, and #3 cover) should all be lined up, and there should be sufficent tension on the belt.

I don't know how well I just explained that-- it makes sense to me, but if it doesn't to you, ask questions.
