As the post says I have a 88 pickup been stuck in third I tried all the tricks when it comes to rocking it and messing with shifter. I’ve come to the point where I’m gonna replace the clutch now any way. Should I attempt to rebuild trans if so any guide,tips or tricks I should know of? Thanks in advance

I wouldnt rebuild trans unless you really have to.

If youre stuck in gear, maybe your clutch hydraulics arent engaging. Have you tested these before you decide to replace the clutch?

The clutch had some years on it so this was something I was planning on, but to answer your question no I have not, what am I looking for?

If you can get a helper, have someone press the clutch pedal in and see if the clutch fork moves. Usually, you get stuck out of gear but if your hydraulics went out while in gear, its possible your problem might not be the clutch itself. You might be able to flush and bleed master and slave cylinders and get the vehicle driveable again.

I dont have enough info to say if this will work but for me, it would be diagnosis step 1.

When you depress the clutch pedal does it engage the starter?
