88 4runner SR5 with engine fuse issue

Last week my engine fuse blew. Lost check engine light, temp gage, oil gage, alt gage, turn signals and tach. Replaced the fuse it blew immediately. Drove to work two days with blown fuse on Wednesday it would not start. Jump started and drove home. Purchased new battery. Drove to local autozone. Was told alternator not getting any volts to the new battery. Pulled the alternator today and took up to autozone it tested out as good. Reinstalled alternator put in new fuse it still blows as soon as I turn key switch to on.

Any ideas were to look next?

Wow! i am experiencing the EXACT same issue! I have no idea! I hope we figure this out soon. I had hope that there would be more info here on yotatech about this particular issue. Did you get this resolved? I would love to know what has happened. I will keep you all posted on this issue, as I learn.
If anyone can help, please do! Thank you!! Kev

I'm pretty certain shorted O2 wires will cause the underhood fusible link to blow (are we talking about the 80 amp one?)...

no sir. It is a small blue fuse 15 amp. Under the dash it is bottom and center labeled 'engine'. Above the drivers foot.
