88' 22RE computer questions
Hey guys...
I am curious if anyone has ever tried to attach to the OBD port on a 1988 with a laptop so they can read the data from the sensors. I know this is child's play with newer vehicles on OBD 2 and that there are no shortage of programs for that. My thing is trying to read Toyota OBD 1. My understanding is that there is a lack of standardization between the different manufacturers for OBD1, and that this creates issues with writing programs.
I am not looking to "chip" the ECU or "boost" the power, I just want to read the data. I think it might be helpful in determining the few issues I still have on my rig.
Thanks...

Nevermind.....I think I found it. user RJR seems to have it figured out. Now to give it a try, and hope I don't mess up the ECU or my laptop.
Thanks.
Thanks.
